Message from Pastor Sukja

Dear Members and friends of Ackermanville United Methodist Church,

As we are going through an unprecedented challenging time due to Coronavirus-19, you have been in my thoughts and prayers. On a daily basis, you are hearing about how to protect yourselves, your loved ones, and others - You don’t need me to go there.  Instead I would like us to remember the words of the apostle Paul, “Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?” Paul says, “No.” Nothing, even this recent pandemic, will separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8: 35-39) We are resilient people, and will get through it together with God’s help. We are resilient because we are people of faith who believe in the hope of resurrection. No one knows at this point and time when we’ll get over this situation, but even if we don’t know, someone at the ZOOM meeting this morning had a great idea… Churches can celebrate Easter Sunday, on the first Sunday right after this pandemic is over. Whether churches take that idea or not, I thought that it was a wonderful reminder that we are Easter people who believe that death is not the last word in Christ Jesus. We are people of hope who believe in the Living Christ who conquered death and gives us a life—life eternal. Even this horrific coronavirus can’t keep us from loving one another and our neighbors, because nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ. We will keep pressing on our journey to the cross during this holy season in the hope of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus! May God’s peace be with you during this anxious time!   Love, pastor Sukja
